This guide explains how to safely handle, store, and care for your 3D printed items from Gothic Bubbles. Following these steps will help keep your models in good condition and reduce the risk of breakage or damage.

1. General Handling Advice

3D printed items are made from layered material, which means they behave differently from factory‑moulded plastic. To keep your item safe:

  • Handle gently, especially around thin or detailed areas
  • Avoid twisting or bending parts with force
  • Do not pull articulated segments apart
  • Keep away from young children (items are not toys)
  • Avoid dropping from height

If an item breaks, small parts may become sharp — dispose of them safely.

2. Heat & Environment

Most items are printed in PLA or PLA+, which can soften under heat.

Keep your item away from:

  • Radiators
  • Direct sunlight for long periods
  • Car dashboards
  • Heaters or warm appliances
  • Hot water or steam

PLA begins to soften around ~60°C, so avoid leaving items in hot environments.

Store your item in a cool, dry place.

3. Cleaning Your Item

To clean your 3D printed model:

✔ Safe methods

  • Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth
  • Use a soft brush to remove dust
  • Mild soap and water (avoid soaking)

✘ Avoid

  • Harsh chemicals
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Abrasive cleaners
  • Submerging the item in water
  • Scrubbing with force

Chemicals can damage the surface or weaken the layers.

4. Caring for Articulated Models

Articulated creatures and fidgets require extra care:

  • Move joints gently
  • Do not force stiff segments
  • Avoid twisting limbs beyond their intended range
  • Keep away from pets (they love chewing articulated parts)
  • Do not attempt to “snap” segments to loosen them

If a joint feels tight, gently wiggle it — do not apply sudden force.

5. Display & Storage Tips

To keep your item looking its best:

  • Display on a stable surface
  • Avoid placing heavy objects on top
  • Keep away from moisture
  • Store in a box or protective bag when not in use
  • Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading

For delicate models, consider using a small stand or shelf riser.

6. Breakage & Repairs

If your item breaks:

  • Small cracks can sometimes be repaired with a tiny amount of super glue
  • Broken articulated segments usually cannot be repaired safely
  • If the break is severe, contact us — we may be able to reprint the part

Never attempt to heat, melt, or reshape broken parts.

7. Safety Notice

All items sold by Gothic Bubbles are:

They are not designed or intended for children. This is due to:
