All 3D‑printed items sold by Gothic Bubbles are produced using high‑quality materials, safe printing practices, and documented testing procedures. We follow UKCA‑aligned safety principles for consumer products and maintain technical documentation for all relevant items.

Our 3D‑printed products are intended as collectibles, display pieces, desk toys, and adult fidgets, unless otherwise stated.

2. Materials Used

We use the following materials:

• PLA+ (non‑toxic, biodegradable thermoplastic)
• PETG (durable, impact‑resistant thermoplastic)
• TPU (flexible rubber‑like material, used for select items)

All materials are sourced from reputable suppliers and include manufacturer MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), stored in our technical file.

We do not use resin for any products sold through Gothic Bubbles.

3. Intended Use Classification

To ensure correct safety classification, all 3D‑printed items are categorised as:

✔ Non‑Toy Collectibles

Most articulated models, fidgets, creatures, and accessories are intended for display, adult use, or desk decoration.

✔ Functional Accessories

Items such as stands, holders, organisers, and display bases are intended for general consumer use.

✘ Not Classified as Toys

Unless explicitly stated, our 3D‑printed items are not toys and are not intended for children. This classification is documented in our UKCA technical file.

4. Safety & Testing Procedures

We perform practical testing on all 3D‑printed items, including:

• Compression tests (1kg load applied to check structural integrity)
• Flex tests (for articulated or jointed models)
• Small‑part breakage checks
• Edge and point safety checks
• Foreseeable misuse assessment
• Drop tests (where applicable)

These tests help ensure:

• No hazardous small parts are created under normal handling
• No sharp edges form during breakage
• Layer adhesion is strong and reliable
• The item is safe for its intended use

Evidence of testing is stored in our technical documentation.

5. UKCA Compliance Approach

3D‑printed items do not automatically require UKCA marking unless they fall under specific regulated categories (e.g., toys, electronics, PPE). However, Gothic Bubbles follows UKCA‑aligned safety principles under the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR).

Our compliance approach includes:

• Maintaining a technical file for each product
• Storing MSDS sheets for all materials
• Documenting risk assessments
• Recording intended use classification
• Keeping testing evidence (photos, notes, results)
• Providing warnings where appropriate
• Using CertHub for structured documentation and future auditing readiness

This ensures we meet Trading Standards expectations for small‑scale manufacturers.

6. Warnings & Age Guidance

Where appropriate, products include warnings such as:

• Not a toy
• Not suitable for children
• Contains small parts
• For display or adult use only
• Do not expose to high heat (PLA softens at ~60°C)

Warnings appear on product pages and packaging where relevant.

7. Environmental Responsibility

We aim to minimise environmental impact by:

• Using biodegradable PLA+ where possible
• Recycling failed prints and support material
• Using recyclable packaging
• Reducing waste through efficient slicing and print optimisation

8. Custom Orders & Modifications

Custom 3D‑printed items follow the same safety and testing procedures. If a customer requests modifications (e.g., scaling, articulation changes), we will advise on safety implications before printing.

9. Limitations of 3D‑Printed Items

3D‑printed items may include:

• Layer lines
• Minor surface variations
• Slight colour differences
• Non‑industrial tolerances

These characteristics are normal for consumer‑grade 3D printing and do not affect safety or intended use.
