WELCOME TO GOTHIC BUBBLES

A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Who am I? My name is Colin Robinson. Born in 1977, I grew up in a normal background.

I attended Primary School and High School in Dartford Kent.

I started my career path as a warehouse operative in 1997 in Charlton South East London for a made to measure curtain makers.

During my time within that company whish spanned just 2 and a half years I was promoted to assistant Manager of a new store.

I subsequently changed career path knowing that in time with my qualifications they may be of more use later in life.

I attended college in Woolwich London where i obtained an NVQ in Accounting.

In 1999 i changed career path and trained as a bus driver where i drove London buses for another two years.

In 2002 i then trained as an HGV Class 2 lorry driver where a stayed for another two years before an accident forced me to take some time out before returning to drive London buses yet again.

In 2003, my only child arrived in the world. Then, in 2004, I moved to the North West and began a new life in Blackpool.

I enjoyed a lengthy career as a tour coach driver from 2006to 2011, during which I had the great privilege of traveling all over the UK and Europe with schools on Ski trips and tourists on tours of the UK for up to three weeks.

In 2012, I trained as an SIA door supervisor, where I worked for six years providing security at local pubs and clubs, as well as at major music festivals such as Creamfields, V Festival, Download, and Party in the Park, and in various arenas. The greatest opportunity I had within that role was when I secured a position in corporate security and worked at Manchester City Football Club, where I worked closely with referees, officials, and players as pitch-side security. Furthermore, within the corporate role, I provided backstage security for big events such as MMA, where I had the honour of looking after Dana White’s dressing room and following his instruction on visitors.

In 2017, when the unfortunate events at Manchester Arena happened, I had just become a Special Guardian, and this made me evaluate life and what path to take. Therefore, I decided to take a break from my career to spend more time at home with my family.

When COVID-19 hit at the start of 2020 in the UK, I had just returned to college at the age of 43 to pursue a course in Dementia Care. Whilst doing this, I topped up on my English and Mathematics qualifications and resat my GCSE maths exam, acquiring a higher grade than when I attended high school. Furthermore, while pursuing this, a career path that I had never considered was thrust upon me by my then-math tutor, who suggested I become a teacher. I looked into this and from 2021 to 2022 I achieved my Level 2 and Level 3 in Teaching and Learning Support which then allowed me to apply for University and for the next 2 years 2022-2024 i studied and obtained a Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning Support at Blackpool University Campus who are in Partnership with Lancaster University from where my Degree has been approved.

Set up in 2022 Gothica Light and Dark Limited was a concept that came from my interests and hobbies.

We are like the Light and Dark side of everything gothic, dragons, witches and all things related to this subject including music.

In 2024 we acquired a second business named Bubbles Den, both businesses situated in Blackpool did not warrant having two premises so we combined the two and moved them into one larger premises.

In 2025 we rebranded the business and name to incorporate both Gothica Light and Dark with Bubbles Den. Hence, the company now being called Gothic Bubbles.

Furthermore, being an avid music fan decided to incorporate band related items into the business venture.

I trialed the connection between the two and gained excellent reviews from local markets and trade fairs.

We were quite often asked do you have a website? The answer to that now is YES and the journey continues for us and hopefully all of our valued customers.
